Finding Hope Through The Darkness

Holistic Mind-Body Approach to Therapy

What's going on for you?

Why A Holistic Mind-Body Approach?

zen person balancing work on a laptop with peace and groundedness

Worries, fears, stress, and doubts live in the body in the form of tension, pain, and racing thoughts. We have to engage the body in addition to the mind, because the body is a portal to understanding our needs  It allows us to sense hunger, exhaustion, sadness, threats, safety, connection, and calm.

It's so easy to get stuck in your thoughts and your endless to-do list . Using mindfulness and breathe work, I can help you to get out of your head and into your body where real change can occur.  By learning to breathe into tense muscles and observe the patterns of the mind, you will learn how to calm racing thoughts, relieve tension and stress, and ground yourself in the present moment.

Meet Nancy Sharpe

Clinical Social Worker, MSW, LICSW, LCSW-C

I am a clinical social worker practicing in Maryland and DC.  I have 13 years of experience working in a variety of settings.  I am a firm believer in a holistic, integrated approach to therapy that incorporates both the mind and body.

WHO I WORK WITH

I work primarily with adults: college students, graduate students, professionals, parents, older adults). My work helps clients regain a sense of balance, develop and maintain healthy relationships, manage difficult emotions, and feel contented and accepting of themselves and their life.

COLLABORATIVE APPROACH
I approach my work with a collaborative spirit knowing that you are the expert on your life experience no matter the age. The goal of therapy is to build a trusting relationship so that you feel more capable and energized to handle the challenge(s) that life has sent your way. Together we will acknowledge and celebrate the ways you are already coping with the stressful situation that brought you into therapy and build on your innate strengths and abilities to effect change.

ABOUT MY JOURNEY

As an mother, and an individual who identifies as neurodivergent, and who manages living with chronic illness and chronic pain, I have been through some dark times.  Mental health support has been critical to my quality of life and has helped me build a friendship with my own body.  I have learned to listen to the wisdom of my body and to give it what it needs.   I would be honored to  support you in finding a sense of hope in the midst of your darkness.

Outside of therapy, I am a mother of two young energetic children.  I enjoy learning about other people and cultures through books or television shows.  I love to spend time in nature or in my garden.
